Lumbar Spine Fractures

The thoracolumbar junction (T11–L2) is the most frequently injured region of the spine. It is a transition zone between the rigid, rib-supported thoracic spine and the mobile lumbar spine, where flexion and axial loads concentrate. Fractures of the lower lumbar spine (L3–L5) are less common and behave differently: the segment is lordotic, the canal is wide and contains the cauda equina, and preserving motion segments is a priority.
